Presentations at the 11th IMISCOE Annual Conference, Madrid, 27-29 August 2014

I presented two papers at the IMISCOE Conference, and chaired session 52 on Migrant families and intermarriage.

 

The first paper was based on the EUMARR-data, and written together with Suzana Koelet (Free University Brussels) and Helga de Valk (Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute & Free University Brussels) and titled Social embeddedness in a harmonized Europe: European bi-national couples in Belgium and the Netherlands.

 

The second paper The role of local and transnational social networks on migration aspirations and decisions. A casestudy of Ukrainians abroad and at home, connected data from the THEMIS and EUMAGINE projects. This paper was jointly written with Erik Snel (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Christiane Timmerman (University of Antwerp), Kenneth Hemerechts (Free University Brussels) and Marije Faber (Erasmus University Rotterdam).
